Eva (Odessa Young), a 19th-century widow, is tasked with making an impossible choice when a ship sinks off the coast of her isolated fishing village in the middle of a particularly harsh winter. Eva and her crew must choose between rescuing the castaways or surviving the winter on the last of their remaining food. Faced with the consequences of their choices and plagued by guilt, the villagers struggle with a growing sense of fear and come to believe that they are all being punished for their choices.
