A series adaptation of James Patterson’s novels about the complex and brilliant detective Alex Cross. He follows Morgan Freeman, who first played him in the 1997 film Kiss the Girls and again in the 2001 sequel Here Comes the Spider; and Tyler Perry as the title character in the 2012 film Alex Cross, which was a box office smash and led Lionsgate to cancel a previously planned sequel, Double Cross.

This Detective Cross looked different than I remembered

I chewed up a lot of the highway listening to James Patterson’s Alixia Cross while I was driving my truck, but I don’t remember the story or the storyline that came from. In fact, I think I was his age when he was working with the central government, not the city police.

For me, the show had one major flaw

Still. It felt like they told too many stories together.

It was hard to see the connections at times

On top of that, the main bad guy was almost a supervillain in that he was ready to go after anyone at any time. Others have pointed out how Morgan Freeman’s portrayal of Cross stood out.

I agree, and I too wish Cross would act more intelligently most of the time, and not just in fits and starts

During the hiatus caused by the writers’ strike, creator Vince Gilligan, impressed with Aaron Paul’s portrayal of Jesse and the fact that everyone just liked Paul, decided to reinstate the character and give Jesse’s fate to another character in the season 1 finale.. In the opening credits, letters in the names of the cast and crew are highlighted in green to represent symbols for chemical elements. However, the ”Ch” in Michael Slovis’ name was highlighted in several early episodes, even though Ch is not a symbol for a chemical element.

The opening credits use chemical symbols from the periodic table of elements as part of the names: bromine (Br) and barium (Ba) for the title, none for creator Vince Gilligan (except when he gets a V for vanadium), one for the cast and crew members. One missing location was Winfield House, the real residence of the U.S. ambassador. Although it is accurately described as the largest residential estate in London (27 acres) other than Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming.

So cerebral and riveting

I voraciously watched The Night Agent and thought it couldn’t get much better, but I was wrong. I loved every second of this series. Everything you could hope for in a series.

She played it perfectly

The characters and acting were first class. It was so good to see the delightful Rufus Sewell again, and what a role he played, never knowing what he would do next. Keri Russell was absolutely incredible as the ambassador.

I also loved David Gyas

All in all, a great series, maybe a little short, but well worth watching. The best political show since The West Wing. Excellent!
