The film’s flaws (yes, it has some) are that it’s maybe 10 minutes too long and completely over-the-top with the grand final sequence, but even that is redeemed by paying homage to a lot of horror. The really amazing make-up and prosthetics are put to good use, you’ll be convinced that Sue is emerging from Elisabeth and that other body changes have taken place.

Great acting by Moore, Qualley and Quaid, visual metaphorical references to what’s going on, and close-ups used to deadly effect. It’s not a movie for the faint of heart or the faint of heart, but it’s a great body horror/black comedy/satire. 8/10..
