It follows Morgan, a single mother of three, and how her extraordinary mind helps her solve a crime as she rearranges evidence during her shift as a cleaner at the police department. American (English) remake of the French series HPI (2021).. Despite his very high IQ, excellent memory and extensive knowledge of the secret, Morgan commits a series of basic legal mistakes that anyone who has ever watched a TV legal show would know . In episode one, for example, he retrieves a document from a locked safe in the suspected victim’s law office that would never be admissible in court – illegally obtained evidence.
admissible in court
It also could not be used to obtain other evidence – a violation of the ”fruit of the poisonous tree” legal doctrine. In episode 2, she has to be reminded to put on gloves before handling evidence at the crime scene, and in #3 she removes all the documented evidence from the police station, completely breaking the chain of prisoners and everything she removed is gone too. Remake of HPI (2021). The series revolves around Morgan (Kaitlin Olson), a woman who is a night cleaner in the LAPD.
They hired her as a consultant
When she happens to look at the case file, she becomes intrigued and makes some corrections to the murder board. This leads to the department realizing that it has a knack for perceiving, assimilating and organizing facts, aka evidence. Think Will Hunting meets Adrian Monk. Like Will, she has an exceptional IQ and a sharp mind.
She is also very assertive
Like Monk, she suffers from OCD, though not as neurotically as Monk. But he feels he has to reconcile all the conflicting data (like an itch that needs scratching). And although Morgan sometimes feels out of touch with society, she is very empathetic. I really like this series, although there have been many other police procedurals where a civilian with an unusual talent works with the cops.
Children are also interesting
Morgan’s character is fun to watch. And the cases contain interesting solutions. She also has three children, so she always has to balance work and home life. In the first episode, her young son actually helps her case, behind the scenes.
